Adventures in Northern Italy
Right now, I’m on board of a train on my way back to Geneva, after a great week touring Northern Italy with Gina and Güero. There are too many highlights with regards to this trip (the amazing food is one), but I’ll stick with a brief recap instead…

After my run of the UTMB at the end of August, we left Chamonix and headed to the Aosta valley to rent a car and drive towards Cervinia, to spend a couple of days touring around the Matterhorn area. We did a little hiking up to Rifugio Teodulo (3,317 m), near the Swiss-Italian border, only to witness a bunch of jealous clouds cover most of the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa.

Next stop was Milan, where we got pitifully lost between the intricacies of its streets. Nevertheless, the fashion mecca of the world didn’t disappoint with its bunch of designer stores and beautiful women all around.

We also spent a couple of days touring around Como and Bellagio, two of the many beautiful towns in the very romantic Lake Como area. Driving fast in such narrow roads around the lake shore made James Bond look like a total pussy!

Then came the highlight of the trip, the Dolomites in the South Tyrol region. What can I say of this place? That its amount of mountains is mindboggling? That there’s no wonder that it is one of the most iconic places in the history of alpinism? That I wouldn’t hesitate a single second in moving there? Climbing? Running? Hiking? Motorcycling? Yeah, all of that and more. Simply awe-inspiring…

The last couple of days were spent in the crazy but wonderful Venice. First we were greeted by hordes of people and insanely hot humidity, but then came Murano and the romanticism was brought back to town. A place to visit at least once in a lifetime!
