More Buffalo wings

I just returned from another quick visit to the Synacor headquarters in Buffalo, NY. Once again, I had a great time with work colleagues both at the office as well as out of it.

I had a good dose of beers & world-famous Buffalo wings and was also able to enjoy the beautiful autumn colors while doing a 15 km early-morning run from the hotel to Delaware Park and back.

Next time I go up there I’ll make sure to stay a little bit longer…

Trad climbing rehearsal

Today Odi, Mokka and I went to Aculco for some climbing action. It’s been a while since the last time I did some trad climbing and Odi had never done any, so I decided we should do some easy routes to get (re)acquainted with the subject.

Odi is still learning about different kinds of climbing, so before any real action we had a quick review of belaying systems and I taught her about basic to intermediate natural protection placements. She’s a quick learner and we switched to real climbing in no time.

We did a couple of 5.8 and 5.9 routes, where almost every climbing technique is practiced: from face climbing to finger & hand cracks to off-widths. We had lots of fun while getting tired of jamming our extremities into the cracks of those amazing basalt pillars.

Mokka seemed to enjoy the day as well, although she couldn’t get why we kept going up and down some rocky walls…

Rocking week

This week was all about enjoying music. On Tuesday, in advance of Odi’s birthday, we attended The Cranberries gig at Auditorio Nacional. Even though we were at the last rows of the auditorium, the band played and sounded awesome. This is setlist the band played for us:

On Thursday, Odi and I went to our favorite pub to celebrate Aldo’s birthday. We had a great dose of rock music from different decades, played live by the pub’s band.

On Friday, I headed with Octavio to Circo Volador to attend Hypocrisy‘s much expected gig. The concert was brutal, with lots of mosh pit and crazy death metal fun. This was the setlist that Peter Tägtgren and his band offered to us:
