The Long And Winding Road

Yesterday morning Sergio, Octavio, Beto and I ran Largo y Sinuoso Camino from the Solo Para Salvajes running circuit. They ran its 22 km version while I did the 34 km course. As always, lots of friendly familiar faces were all around the place.

Sergio ran an amazing race, finishing in 9th place overall in the 22 km group. I managed to shave 8 minutes and 25 seconds from my last year’s time, finishing the 34 km in 4:41:41 and 1.14 km ahead from the virtual partner in my GPS watch. I felt well for most of the course, despite the constant urge to be ahead of the virtual partner. Seems like bonking at the Mexico City marathon 2 weeks ago wasn’t bad after all…

After the race we had a big and well-deserved brunch with Odi & Karen who were waiting for us at the finish line

The race pictures can be seen here.

the beatles – the long and winding road

the long and winding road
that leads to your door
will never disappear
i’ve seen that road before
it always leads me her
lead me to you door

the wild and windy night
that the rain washed away
has left a pool of tears
crying for the day
why leave me standing here
let me know the way

many times i’ve been alone
and many times i’ve cried
any way you’ll never know
the many ways i’ve tried

but still they lead me back
to the long winding road
you left me standing here
a long long time ago
don’t leave me waiting here
lead me to your door

but still they lead me back
to the long winding road
you left me standing here
a long long time ago
don’t leave me waiting here
lead me to your door
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah…
