It’s been some years now that I’ve wanted to attend an
Opeth gig. Last year I almost made it in Toronto, but a change of travel dates left me out of the game. This year they finally made their return to Mexico after a little more than 5 years. Two consecutive nights were scheduled for shows at Circo Volador.
I went with Octavio to the first gig. As usual, we found our way into the crowd and managed to get in the middle-front of the stage, our favorite place for the mosh pit. The sound quality was superb and the band’s performance even better. We enjoyed every chord and drum beat to their fullest, as well as Mikael Åkerfeldt’s death grunts and clean vocals. The show lasted 2 hours, but every minute of it was a total delight. This was the setlist for the 1st night:

Odina was my companion for the 2nd gig. This time we found a nice spot at the very middle of the auditorium, a good place to listen to the music without being pushed by the crowd. I simply don’t have words to describe the 2-hour show, the band excelled at every song and we had a great time listening to them. The setlist was as follows:
Opeth definitely is one of the best metal bands ever and I really hope to see them back in Mexico sometime soon \m/
