Mountaineering dogs

So it’s been 3 weeks since Mokka’s 1st mountaineering experience and today we went back to Nevado de Toluca to take the challenge once again. Other friends joined us this time for the full trip around the crater: Judith, Omar, Sergio and his dogs, Chispa and Chupirul.

We managed to complete the route and got back to Laguna del Sol after 4 hours of hiking. There we met Gil and Toche who only did the short walk from the cars directly into the crater. We had lunch and let the dogs rest for about an hour, while we enjoyed the nice weather and had a great time as always

Commutes of the future?

The idea is really tempting and I have to confess that I’ve thought of it many times before, the problem here is that Mexico City’s air is extremely polluted…

SACRAMENTO — Like so many groggy morning commuters, Debra Moss likes to begin her day at a Starbucks. Got to get that energy boost for the slog into work, after all.

On this September morning, with dawn slowly breaking, the 51-year-old state worker, who lives in the Campus Commons section of Sacramento, decided that she needed something stronger than Starbucks iced tea. So she ducked into the Safeway next door and downed a Red Bull…

Caught by the rain

This afternoon I took Mokka out for a short trail run along my Villa Alpina route.

The plan was to run uphill for 2 km then back home, however, we didn’t count on being trapped by one big rainstorm on our way up the hills. By the time we reached our 2K goal, we already were soaking wet and the trail started to get really muddy. Ten minutes later, on the way down, the trail had turned into a water stream that seemed to flow down faster than we did.

Mokka ran unleashed the whole time but she stayed really close to me since there were lightnings striking all around the forest. She was a little bit scared of the intense experience but at the same time seemed to enjoy the adventure.

We got back home frozen to the bones but happy about what we just survived

Family time

Spent the day at my parents’ place. Poli, Javi and the rest of the family came over for lunch and we had a great time chatting for the most of the evening. It’s amazing how much joy can a baby bring to a family

Building up endurance

Mokka and I have been progressively increasing our running mileage.

Today we went out for a “recovery” run with Beto along our flat course in Echegaray. Mokka finished a little bit tired after almost 10K but managed to recover very well after resting for about 10 minutes. She’s definitely getting stronger
