First outside adventure

Mokka had her first walk out of home today. She’s almost done with her vaccines and the veterinarian told me she could start going out a few times a week.

Despite the walk was short (15 min around the block), it was a weird moment for her, firstly because of so many other dogs barking at her from the other houses and secondly because I put a leash on her.

Apparently, she didn’t like too much the idea of the leash, but as a first time it was totally necessary so she could understand that she has to be close to me while being out. Next time we’ll try without the leash…

Green is the colour

After some good climbing yesterday at the University wall I concluded: I must get back to training, I miss it so much.

So today I went out for some trail running after work. I ran my 12 km route around Los Cipreses and I was really happy to see that the forest is getting green again. It hasn’t rained a lot recently, and certainly the rainy season is a little bit delayed, but I hope it gets more beautiful really soon.

pink floyd – green is the colour

heavy hung the canopy of blue
shade my eyes and i can see you
white is the light that shines through the dress that you wore
she lay in the shadow of the wave
hazy were the visions of her playing
sunlight on her eyes but moonshine beat her blind everytime
green is the colour of her kind
quickness of the eye deceives the mind
many is the bond between the hopefull and the damned…

The therapy wall

Judith and I had some great time climbing today at the University wall. Contrary to the usual tradition of each one being plugged into their music while climbing, we found a more civilized way of communication between us: we chatted while climbing.

We had a very fun psychiatrist-patient kind-of conversation, at which we exchanged roles after every lap we did in the wall. Yeah, we are a pair of weirdos…

The tedious migration process

Moving files and settings between computers is an awful task, and even worse if it’s between different operating systems. This weekend is about changing work’s computer after 2.5 years.

I’m moving from PC to Mac and hoping I can get used to its shiny user interface while I wrestle between terminals connected to remote servers. We’ll see…

Dragging myself

So today I broke up a little with the recent inactivity and logged some kilometers in my legs. I went for a 2-hour run around Satélite and got my mind refreshed with new ideas.

I really hope to get back into serious running soon, it simply feels so good…

Quiet weekend

I haven’t got any climbing or running for the last 2 weeks (since my DNF at Carrera de Resistencia en las Montañas). And most of this week was about working from home and taking care of Mokka during her first days at home (which were a bit though, by the way…).

Yesterday we celebrated my mom all day long and today I went for some climbing to the University wall, then came back home to be with the dog. A slight change in the ordinary tasks but nothing that can’t be retaken soon…

Ultramarathons gaining in popularity, competitors

Jamie Frink fell in love two years ago on a trail in Lone Pine. Chad Long took the plunge that same spring in Cool. And Patrick DellaPace found similar joy last year on a challenging ascent to Auburn.

The object of their affection? Ultrarunning, which lures people from the road racing world with the promise of testing their physical limits, savoring nature’s beauty and sharing in a laid-back culture that emphasizes camaraderie over competition…

Flickr party

Last night I assisted to the Muestra Tu México en Flickr event, where I had some great time with my friends from the office, colleagues from other Y! offices and some of the attendees.

The event was to show and award the best photos submitted to the Flickr group that was created a couple of months ago. Winning photos will be published in a book in a couple of months.

I was very happy and surprised to see that 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 of the photos that I added to the group were randomly selected to be part of the collage that decorated some of the walls at the venue. No, I didn’t won anything, just the satisfaction of seeing some of my pictures hanging from the walls

Change of minds

Do you remember Luis and Chalita’s plans from some days ago? Well, they just made some “slight” changes to them today…

Instead of running the Kettle Moraine 100 Endurance Run and Leadville Trail 100, they opted for a more “light” and much less expensive plan for the Summer: running the 100 km Ultramaratón de los Cañones in the Sierra Tarahumara, Chihuahua, Mexico.

What made them change their minds so drastically? Well, it’s simple: lack of budget
