The climbing life

Busy weekend…

Beto & I went again for some sunset climbing at Espacio Escultórico on Friday. It was a cold evening but the sky was clear and the city tour by motorcycle very enjoyable due to the absence of people in the streets (seems like everybody wanted a small rest after political tension around here…).

On Saturday, I made my pack and went to Nevado de Toluca for doing a solo climb over the lip of its crater with a descent around the crater’s lagoons then returning to the lip.

The day was perfect, a little bit cold, but clear enough for enjoying the view and taking good pictures. It’s a very recommendable and easy route for people with mountain climbing skills and route finding ability, as there are some key spots which can be confusing (be careful when scrambling around iced 4th class terrain without crampons!).

The sunset view was more than excellent and the winter moon rising over the lip of the crater just made the solo experience more than rewarding. A private gift from nature…

Today I returned to Ciudad Universitaria for a short 10 km run and just before lacing my climbing shoes for another climbing session, the clouds came in and the rain began to do its thing. It was time to come back home and have a short break from the always exciting climbing life
