Banff Mountain Film Festival 2006 – Day 3

Yesterday was the last night of the Banff Mountain Film Festival. The closing films were excellent:

  • Baffin Island B.A.S.E. Jump Adventure: Great action video. A group of B.A.S.E. jumpers do a lot of acrobatics while jumping off from many of the cliffs at Sam Ford Fjord in Baffin Island.
  • The Khumbu Mighty-Mites: Funny movie. It shows how the kids of Nepal entertain themselves skiing over the snowy slopes of their litte village.
  • Return2Sender: Parallelojams: Excellent action video. Timmy O’Neill takes a tour around Utah’s famous crack climbs and interviews the local masters of stone.
  • Person as Projectile: Crazy video. An extreme skier does a lot of jumps from high cliffs and always tries to fall over his back.
  • Sur le fil des 4000: Excellent documental. Patrick Berhault and Philippe Magnin dreamed of a great tour, scaling all the alpine peaks culminating at more than 4,000 m, hiking and skiing the distance between them; after 59 days, their adventure came to a sudden and tragic end.

As every year, I’m sad that the film festival came to its end. I’ll be anxiously waiting for the next year’s edition, which I know will be memorable as always.
