Reunion

Today I quit work exactly at 6 p.m. The afternoon was so sunny and the sky so shiny clear that it was the perfect moment to go for a bouldering session at Chiluca’s cave.

I picked up Cova and we arrived there just in time to gather with the good climbing friends. Not everyone was in the place, but most of them felt the same calling as we did. We had a great time as always. Back to climbing!

Pumped

I skipped lunch today and went to Chiluca boulders. It has been more than a month since the last time I went there.

Due to the heavy raining during the past month, I haven’t got real climbing training in a couple of weeks and it was clearly evidenced by my extremely pumped forearms. 2 laps in the cave and my fingers couldn’t hold me on the small crimpers. I need to get back into real training!

I enjoyed the landscape in the meantime, everything was so green, full of flowers and insects…

Thai food & climbing

Tonight I met up with Armando, Betty and Güero for dinner. We went for a thai food fest in a quiet restaurant near Armando’s store.

As always, we made all the fun from Armando’s stories. This time was his recent trip to Yosemite and his “epic” climb of El Capitan: 6 days on the Triple Direct! You can imagine the rest…

Walk in the mountain

I won’t post a lot here, I’ll put it simple. Today was Judith’s birthday and we went to the Iztaccíhuatl for a wonderful hike in the woods. The rest of the story in the pictures:

Why am I so tired?

This is the title of a very old Smashing Pumpkins song which is complety instrumental and quite long (15:14 actually) and even though it doesn’t contain any lyrics, it resumes perfectly my current state.

After a strenuous week and a lot of attended emergencies, yesterday I managed to do my afternoon run in the rain and was even invited to dinner at Fer’s place. She took care of all the cuisine duties while I was watching and resting. Delicious cooking!

After that, we went into a TV marathon that included The Pink Panther, Top Cat and 2 movies. Even though it was a great evening, I fell asleep during the second movie and barely managed to return home after that.

Today I keep feeling sleepy and again I ask: why am I so tired? I think I need vacations…

Commensal bacteria damage host DNA

Commensal strains of bacteria may establish themselves in the intestine by damaging eukaryotic cells, just like pathogenic bacteria, according to a new study in Science. The researchers found that both pathogenic and commensal strains of Escherichia coli possess a set of genes that lead to double-strand breaks in host cell DNA — a mechanism that could also trigger intestinal cancer, the authors say…

Over the hills… and far away?

Today I felt the usual urge of running in the nature. To get into the woods and pick a trail to follow until exhaustion droves me back…

Well, it didn’t happen precisely like that, but I’ve managed to link a new running route over a beautiful landscape. A 7 km roundtrip over the hills and around the border of Presa Madín. A total ascent of 300 meters. Another good excuse to test my heart rate monitor…

The dripping wall

Very rainy days we have had here in the city…

This morning I went for my weekend (yes, no mid-week training for the moment) dose of endurance climbing. All I could get was a single lap done and a huge pump in my forearms due to the excesively wet conditions of the university wall.

Have you ever tried to climb a waterfall with the water actually falling in your hands? Well, this waterfall was not high but wide, 400 meters wide actually… Strenuous!

Finished (for the moment)

The last 2 weeks have been really exhausting. I’ve been developing/testing/launching the “important” stuff for the mexican soccer league and, somehow, I’ve managed to finish it just in time (it began today).

I’m not a soccer aficionado, but if you like soccer and want to get recent news and stats, then check out the brand new Y! Telemundo and Y! México mexican soccer league sites. I hope you like them.

To celebrate the end of this 1st development/launch state, I went for the distance and managed to run one of my longest routes in Cd. Satélite. The evening was a bit rainy, but really great to refresh my thoughts while enjoying the sunset…
