More trails

After that I headed to Caro & Gil’s apartment for dinner. Vane & Serch went also. Gil prepared his famous pancakes and we had some long talk, then I came home.
That doesn’t mean that I will throw away my old and trusty Pentax ME Super camera. I just needed a new one to forget the hassle of always manually setting up the exposure, aperture and focus, specially while climbing!
More cameras = more options, don’t you think?
The sun finally came out for a while today. We packed our things and got back to the wet wall. The morning heat almost dried it completely. Music on, chalkbags tied and t-shirts out. After 4 full laps (1,600 meters) our feet and hands got completely numb. This ain’t comfortable, in fact, it hurts
Just getting stronger… remember?
We planned to do a pair of laps on the wall. The rain was falling so vertical that the whole wall was covered with waterfalls, definitely a good training for the Eiger Nordwand’s waterfall pitch!
After a whole lap of struggle we realized that it was impossible to get more soaking wet. We shaked hands and ran out of there to get some dry clothes and a hot coffee
17 km rainstorm race. Body, shoes & clothes soaking wet. Music at full volume. Knees scratched & nipples bleeding. The need to get some fresh air…
anathema – barriers
floating with nowhere to hide
unspoken twist back inside
how did we get here?
life don’t belong herefeel like i just never tried
to find a way back to the outside
it stops me from breathing
kills all the dreamingtalking to you from the other side
of a wall in my mind
and it’s clear that you’re near to me
think i found a way to understand
why i couldn’t see what was happening
the fear overcame me
i took a trip on the inside
i took a trip on the inside
i try to hold on till this feeling is gone
break through to the other side
need to break through to the other side
of everything that is hurting youas you know i just can’t lay down and die
it takes a lifetime to understand why
it seems that you need me
but you don’t seem to hear metalking to you from the other side
of a wall in my mind
and it’s clear that you’re near to me
think i found a way to understand
why i couldn’t see what was happening
the fear overcame me
i took a trip on the inside
i took a trip on the inside
i try to hold on till this feeling is gone
break through to the other side
need to break through to the other side
of everything cos this feeling is so near to me
did you hear me?
Our planned route was from El Zarco to La Marquesa. The start of the trail was exhausting, a narrow uphill trail of about 1.5 km between the woods, then the trail became roadsize and horizontal for another 7 km.
At about the 9th km the descent began with a very pronunciated narrow downhill trail. Here’s where Güero and Beto started to get “creative”. They began to run as if they were being hunted by lions. Unfortunately, they didn’t got the enough neurons to think if Omar and I were following them. I was running just behind them (50 meters) but watching for Omar who stopped to answer his cell phone. Suddendly… Beto and Güero simply disappeared. The downhill finished and I came out to the highway, I thought that I could see them but no, they weren’t there… So I started to run faster to rejoin them. Even I started to yell so they could wait for me and Omar. No answer…
A car stopped next to me at the highway and asked if that was the road to Chalma. Chalma?! I was in the wrong direction! I had to turn back and run up to La Marquesa (8 km away from where I was!). There were no signs from Güero, Beto and Omar. Surely they were on route to La Marquesa and surely by some trail unknown by me. I had to run all the way back by the roadside
I arrived to the meeting point at La Marquesa. They weren’t there and nobody had seen them. I quickly jumped into a bus and returned to the car. The car was still parked at El Zarco and there were no signs of them. All I could do was to send them a message to their cell phones and wait… 15 minutes later they arrived by other trail which wasn’t the proposed return route!
I gave them the finger and after some discussion we were drinking some cold drinks. Then we returned home
This afternoon, we managed to catch some rain drops while enjoying the exquisite fresh air of the cloudy sky. Beto did only 800 meters of traverse because his music player ran out of batteries. I had my 1,200 meters dose. The rainy season is coming and we’re sharping our teeth to welcome it…
Running, climbing & more running… This was today’s schedule: 8 km uphill race to Chiluca, followed by 1 hr of excellent 5.11-5.12 boulder problems, then another 8 km downhill race to home (with 1 stop for drinking an energizing carrot juice at Zona Azul
).
Güero joined us in the race at Chiluca. He arrived a bit late because he went running from his place (14 km?) and got trapped in the woods while taking a “shortcut”. He never learns also…
The bad news: Beto and I saw our lives pass away while being in the city’s downtown doing some trivial things. The crowds and the traffic are simply annoying and exhausting…
The good news: Jordi told me that Pink Floyd (with Roger Waters included) will play at the Live8 concert. More info at lawaloca.com. Definitely good news!
